Editorial Standards

These rules govern the public catalog, long-form articles, translations, source links, and corrections on AnimeAnchor.

Source Order

AnimeAnchor starts with official franchise, anime, broadcaster, distributor, publisher, licensor, home-video, and event pages when they directly identify a title, date, release format, episode number, or story relationship. Official English-language licensors and distributors are used when Japanese sources do not provide the needed English record.

Established secondary databases may corroborate or help locate a record, but they do not automatically overrule an official source. Wikipedia can be used as a fallback for release tables and episode research when its citations can be checked. A single secondary listing is not treated as proof of a disputed relationship.

Release Identity And Numbering

Television episodes, theatrical films, television specials, recaps, recuts, and alternate versions remain distinct records. A movie is not inserted into an episode list to fill a numbering gap. A film and a television recut can be linked as related versions without being merged.

Official episode numbering is preserved when available. Seasons are shown only when a source supports them or the page identifies the label as derived navigation. Global episode ordinals and displayed release numbers are not silently exchanged.

Canon And Filler Labels

Canon and filler labels are navigation aids, not declarations from a studio unless an official source makes that distinction. Long-running anime often mix adapted scenes, anime-original sequences, recaps, and side stories inside one episode. When the evidence does not support a simple label, the page should use a mixed or provisional status instead of pretending the answer is settled.

A correction to a canon label should include the episode, the claimed source material, and a citation that can be checked. Popular opinion alone is useful context, but it is not enough to overwrite a source-backed record.

Summaries And Spoilers

AnimeAnchor separates spoiler-safe summaries from full-plot summaries. The spoiler-safe version should describe the setup and immediate viewing context without revealing the decisive outcome. The full-plot version may identify major events, results, and consequences.

Summaries are written for AnimeAnchor. Provider blurbs, encyclopedia prose, and article text are not copied as substitute content. Sources support factual details, while the wording and structure of an AnimeAnchor summary remain original. Boilerplate credits from imported descriptions are removed rather than published as part of a synopsis.

Long-Form Articles

An article must answer a specific viewing or story question, add context beyond a list of database rows, and link readers to the relevant episodes, movies, arcs, characters, or official sources. Pages that only repeat a title, short summary, and generic recommendation are not promoted as editorial articles.

AnimeAnchor keeps unfinished short notes in the working collection rather than deleting them. They stay out of the public article index and sitemap until the original editorial text reaches the publication threshold and the internal links, metadata, and sources pass review.

Translations

Translated pages use locale-specific URLs and must preserve the same entity identity and relationships as the English record. Automated checks look for blank translations, English text copied into another locale, script mismatches, malformed fields, and links that jump back to the wrong language.

Official localized titles are preferred when a source provides them. A generated title or summary is identified internally as a translation and does not masquerade as official metadata. Names that are normally kept in Latin script may remain unchanged across languages.

Images, Video, And Attribution

Selected metadata and artwork are provided through TheTVDB. Embedded video must come from an official rights holder, producer, publisher, or licensor channel. AnimeAnchor does not claim ownership of third-party artwork, clips, titles, trademarks, or characters.

If an image, caption, attribution, or embed should be corrected or removed, send the page URL and the basis for the request to [email protected].

Corrections

Corrections are evaluated against the source order above. Mechanical errors such as broken links, duplicate IDs, wrong dates, and mismatched titles should be fixed directly. Disputed interpretation is documented rather than hidden. A correction may update the catalog, the article text, or both.

To report an issue, email [email protected] with the affected URL, the field or sentence in question, and a source supporting the change.

Advertising Independence

Advertising revenue supports hosting, data work, writing, and maintenance. Advertisers do not receive different search placement, canon classifications, summaries, ratings, or source treatment. Ads and sponsored material must be labeled and visually separated from editorial text and navigation.

Accountability

AnimeAnchor is responsible for what it publishes, including material created through structured imports or software-assisted workflows. Automation can accelerate checking and translation, but it does not transfer responsibility to a data provider, model, or script.
